New kid on the block
My new 135i
Last night I brought home a new member of the family…a new BMW 135i convertible! My lease was up on my 325 and I had been dreaming of returning to my beloved Z4. I was shattered when I discovered on Monday that the 2009 Z4 would not be on the market until May at the earliest…and with anticipated demand for this redesigned model being very high, my chances of a lease this year are slim to none. My boss recently bought a 128i for his wife - she loves it, but he’s not a topless fan and found it a bit claustrophobic. I decided to stop by the dealership yesterday to give the 135i a test drive…I think the first words out of my mouth were “Holy Crap!” Seriously, this car is FAST! It’s got a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo, 6-cylinder engine that puts out 300 HP! I was sold within the first few minutes of the test drive. :D I ended up going home in the one I tested - fully tricked out - the only thing it doesn’t have is the navigation system. They had a killer lease special going on, so I’m saving a ton compared to my last lease.

Nice car! I love it, although my dogs travel with me a lot and doesn’t look like a lot of room for 150lbs of dogs. LOL
Just hoping my holds out until next year, then I’ll be looking for a new one .

After a few days, I’m really in love with this car. I know it seems odd to admit not caring for a car like a 325 convertible, but for the past few years, I wasn’t “in love” with my car. Sure, it was nice. But going from a Z3 to a Z4 to a sedan wasn’t a wise choice for me. But maybe it makes me appreciate this one more. Yesterday I had meetings in Redmond with clients - I let my colleague drive the 135 back and he REALLY likes it. He used to drive my Z4 sometimes when I was traveling - until the little accident in our parking garage while I was on Mandalay back in 2005…but it wasn’t his fault! Anyway, it might be time to hook up with some of my old car club friends and see if they have any group drives scheduled…

Pretty car…I’ve a question about leasing. I’ve never leased a car and Marian and I don’t put a lot of miles on a car (our 5 year old Kia only has 34,000 miles on it). Does it cost more to get car insurance? Someone told us that insurance was a bunch more on a lease. What’s your experience?

My last three BMWs have been leases, and I haven’t noticed an increase in insurance. In fact, every year it continues to decrease with my good driving record, but I’m with USAA, so I’ve got great rates. It went up with this 135, but I’m not surprised given what’s under the hood. If you’re in doubt, call your insurance company for a quote.
There are different options for your driving habits - I have a 15,000 miles per year lease, but you can get 10,000 and 12,000 miles per year leases for less. Since I’m pretty sure I want a new car every few years, a lease makes sense for me. You might not have the option with all manufacturers and all models - and cars in higher demand might have higher lease rates. It works for me, but it might not work for others.

This is a really cool interactive site. The safety video is comforting, but of course I’ve always felt very safe in my cars. Bob had a ride in my Z4 at Jammerfest in Oregon back in 2003 or so.
I was way under in my miles wiith the 325…I’m thinking a road trip to Sacramento is a MUST!

I’ve been asked by a couple of people if she has a name…I think I’ve decided on “Crazy B”. It could stand for Crazy Basham, but I think Crazy Bitch is more like it.
When my salesman was demonstrating how the iPod connection works, he asked what I wanted him to play - scrolling through his iPod, I picked Crazy Bitch by Buck Cherry. I don’t who was more surprised…him, for my selection…or me, seeing he had that on his iPod! So that’s what was playing as we left the dealership on my test drive.
Yep, it’s starting to stick. “CRAZY B” is available right now as a custom plate…

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

My friend has a dealing on car rentals and he really loves having it. Part of his business is also fixing small parts of cars. He has become someone successful with his business and it has really help him with a lot of financial problems.Car rentals are one of the best services offered that I find amusing so far. I can’t help thinking about cars being borrowed by people you barely are familiar with. Although it is a good business, it is rather not that reliable for me since I am a kind of person who his profit.My father used to refuse the idea of renting a car from a car rental. He would say that it is an unsafe idea since it is not our personal car that we would be driving. Although we would be paying for the car, he would still refuse to use it.

How much is too much tattooing. I used to drive a cab and tourists would comment on how nice people are and how many tats they had. I hadn’t thought about it until then but, Portlander’s do seem to get tats just to have them. I guess more ink = more better. Personally I don’t think should get a tattoo of a turtle just because they went to Cancun on vacation. I think the tat should have more meaning. It is, however, good for business. Anyone have a differing idea. I’d be glad to hear it.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
