I started this topic for discussions of “stuff” that I see posted on various sites or “group” e-mail’s I receive.
The latest one has to do with the US Senate passing a bill that would allow people who are not legally in this country get Social Security benefits. Anybody hear about this? Could our elected “officials” be so stupid as to give away our money to the benefit of illegal’s. When I worked for the government there was a crime called “inappropriate use of government funds”…this would qualify if true. Anyone ever had any luck sending an email to their US Senator?

Hello March…I’m really excited that daylight savings time is this weekend, it means that summer is on it’s way. And with summer, comes Jammerfest!! We have had a mild winter but I’ve been cooped up in town and it’s time for a vacation of some sort. Being retired means I’ve got more to do than I seemed to when I was working. I wanted to write something here each day but commenting on what is going on in the world seems so pointless…what can any of us do about anything that is going on out there. The economy sucks and it seems that only those in “trouble” are included in “stimulus” packages. I feel that those of us who have been prudent…saved our money…paid our bills…not purchased things (including homes) that we couldn’t afford are being asked to “bail out” those who made poor choices or just didn’t have the will power to say not to a good salesman.

Thanks for looking at my Blog Tom and Cindy. I’m going to try and think of something to write about each day. As a retired guy who always thought he wanted to write a book this could be a way of forcing myself to write something each day. Some authors only write in the early morning and some try and write a certain number of pages a day. I’ll just go on about whatever is on my mind and perhaps it will be interesting…perhaps not. I’ve always liked the “three dot” folks in the news paper. The old Sacramento Union had a good “three dot” column as did the San Francisco Examiner (at least I think it was the Examiner).
Loved the Oscar’s last night. I think they did a great show. I had no idea that Hugh Jackman was so talanted. The set was beautiful…having the band on stage was a plus. I’m sorry to say I haven’t seen “Slum Dog Millionaire” yet but I guess I’ll have to now. Tuesday is “Senior Day” at the local theatre and paying $6.00 is way better than paying $9.50 to see a movie.
It’s raining again today which is good for us. The lakes are so low. I was kind of pissed when I drove by our local fire station and saw them washing the firetruck in the rain…something wrong with that picture.

Welcome to Winefrog’s “From behind the Bar” rantings and ravings. I just started this “blog” today and have not figured out just what i’m going to say. I’ll be talking about travel and the social aspects of life in general. If you find me a bore just go read something else. I think I will like blogs unless I run out of topics to write about (probably never).
Today is kind of a drag because of the weather. The best thing I was able to do today was create this blog (thanks Cindy).
